CANNES 2006: Ostrow closes six figure advance for 'Dating Games People Play'- Hollywood Reporter

Producer/Distributor New Films International (NFI) has acquired international rights to the romantic comedy DATING GAMES PEOPLE PLAY from Page Ostrow, founder and president of Ostrow and Company, it was announced today by NFI Executive Ron Gell.

The festival favorite starring Austin Peck ("Days of Our Lives") and Leslie Bega ("The Sopranos") is writer/director Stefan Marc's feature debut.

DATING GAMES PEOPLE PLAY defines the often times unpredictable contemporary dating scene; it pokes fun at the very different perspectives that men and women have of dating and relationships, and shows the hilarious consequences. Their misperceptions come crashing together in this zany but true-to-life romantic comedy.

"We were looking for a company that would have the experience and success in distributing a comedy internationally and when we spoke with Ron and Nesim, we knew we had found a home for the film," states Ostrow.

"DATING is exactly the kind of independent film that we want to be a part of our growing library. Its fun, quirky and an audience favorite with a universal theme to which international audiences can relate," adds NFI President Nesim Hason.

In addition to DATING GAMES PEOPLE PLAY, the company's co-production deal with Holedigger Studios has added the highly acclaimed festival favorite, MARIE AND BRUCE starring Julianne Moore (FAR FROM HEAVEN, BOOGIE NIGHTS) and Matthew Broderick (THE PRODUCERS, FERRIS BUELLER‚S DAY OFF) and written by Wallace Shawn (THE DESIGNATED MOURNER, MY DINNER WITH ANDRE). NFI will screen a newly edited version of the film as part of the upcoming Marche.

DATING GAMES PEOPLE PLAY makes its international debut when it screens in Cannes on May 19th at the Gray 3 at 4:00 p.m.

Hason, Gell , Radu Niclau, Stefania Vitali and Serap Acuner will be in Cannes and can be reached during the festival at Hotel Carlton, Rooms 164 + 165 Tel: +33 493 06 4006
